Tiger Woods Soars At Torrey Pines, Wins For Seventh Time

The golfer anticipates a great year as he prepares for the World Golf Championships.

Golf enthusiasts are abuzz as Tiger Woods wins the Farmers Insurance Open for the seventh time. The win is likely to send an uneasy feeling to his golf competitors; in the six previous seasons that Woods won the Farmers, he never won fewer than four tournaments that year. Talk about a foreshadowing of events.

Woods finished at 14 under par to win his 75^th career title by four shots, beating defending champions Brandt Snedeker and John Teater. Nick Watney, the 2009 Farmers champion, said he doesn’t think anybody would have beaten Woods this week. “He’s definitely on his game. When he gets like that, you’ve got to play your best to compete, and unfortunately, I didn’t today.”

When asked whether the victory at Torrey Pines means that he’s back and ready to climb back to the top, Woods said, “I never left.” (USA Today)

Tiger Woods is Back On Top, Leads Torrey Pines Tournament

The golfer leads a tournament of 87 other golfers.

For the first time in five years, Tiger Woods in stating his claim again with a 36-hole  lead at Torrey Pines. “I feel good right now,” Woods said. “I’m leading the tournament.” Woods did not miss a shot during the four-hole stretch around a turn on the North Course. He still has a lot of work to do though. There are 87 players who made the cut at 1-under 143.

Just last year, the golf icon won the PGA Tour for the first time in 2 years. The win was following a messy divorce with his ex-wife Elin Nordegren. (NY TImes)
