'Tanisha Gets Married' Sneak Peek: Premarital Counseling

Tanisha & Clive have to work out jealousy and control issues before tying the knot

If you’ve been following “Tanisha Gets Married” this season, then you know there has been A LOT of drama surrounding the couple. It’s not just the typical kind that comes with planning a wedding; Tanisha and Clive simply don’t trust each other.

A few weeks ago, the bride-to-be accused her froom of cheating on her based on some messages she read on a social networking profile he had. As it turned out, the webpage and the messages were old (so Clive says), so they squashed their argument.

But then the tables turned and Clive began to become suspicious of Tanisha’s best friend Shawn. The couple decided to go to couples therapy to discuss their issues which, other than the mistrust (on both parts), include Tanisha’s control issues.

Clive is not fond of the way she deals with her anger because it usually turns into Tanisha bullying him. She’ll scream in his face and shove him; it gets bad. When Clive expresses this to the therapist she goes in on both of them (in that forthright way that only therapists can). Watch: 

There is a double standard at play. If the tables were turned and Clive was aggressive toward Tanisha then he’d be locked up somewhere and ridiculed. I’m glad the therapist addressed the control issue because it seems like there’s a power struggle between the both of them. Tanisha pokes, then Clive pokes back, and then they erupt into an explosive argument. Eventually, if they keep that pattern up, they’re going to start to resent each other and the arguments will get even uglier - to the point where they may say and do things to each other that they can’t turn back from. I’m no therapist, but it doesn’t take Psychology 101 to figure this stuff out.
