The Future of Cellphones
The ambient backscatter could be the next cellphone.
Forget you iPhone charger? Then you’re pretty much out of the loop for the rest of the day. But a breakthrough could be on the horizon. Engineers at the University of Washington have devised a wireless and battery free way of communicating through their ‘ambient backscatter.”
The devices can communicate with other “ambient backscatters” by absorbing or reflecting already existing radio signals. The credit card-sized device is still being developed, but already the possibilities are endless, seeing how it can generate a network out of nothing.
Researchers have discussed the possibility of incorporating this technology into smartphones so users can continue to send texts even after the battery dies out.
Check out how it works below!
Could this be the new way of communication soon?
