Can Snapchat reverse its branding?
Picture this. In the digital age, sexting is a thing of the past. When Snapchat arose on the app market some two years ago, some people thought to use app for more…creative reasons.
With Snapchat, users can send pictures with limited text to friends. What makes the app different? Pictures get deleted after 1 to 10 seconds (depending on the user’s settings).
The app has gotten a reputation for being the new age version of sexting, but the app is trying to erase that image from it’s branding.
In attempts to rebrand, Snapchat offered a kid-friendly version (Snapkidz) and will be tested for the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch (Snapchat Micro).
