Right wing media, groups have been careful not to risk accusations of racism in hiring impersonators

The country's best comedians learned very early on how hard it is to make fun of President Barack Obama. It’s not because he isn’t flawed or without any “scrutinize-able” characteristics.

Comedians say Obama is just not the guy that you can build a comedy routine around. That hasn't stopped a few from toeing the line. Chatter about using Obama in stand-up routines began before his inauguration. Right wing groups and political organizations have hired Obama impersonators, and some later regretted the decision.

That's because conservative activists and right wing media outlets risk accusations of racism if teasing the nation's first African American president steps too far over the line.

About.com polled several comedians and writers about this in “Surviving the Obama Comdey Crisis.”
