Fox executives announced they will proceed with sequel
The show must go on. Yesterday, 20th Century Fox announced plans to continue with the Waiting To Exhale sequel they've had in development despite Whitney Houston's untimely death.
In an interview with NY Magazine, Elizabeth Glaber, president of Fox 2000 Pictures said, "I don't think she would want it to be dropped. It's almost in her honor that we think to shoulder on."

Fox acquired the rights to the novel Getting To Happy, the 2010 follow-up to Exhale, by author Terry McMillan. The project is still in early development, with a script being written my Lori Lakin, a scribe from the VH1 show Single Ladies.
When asked if Houston's role will be recast, Glaber replied, "We literally have not talked about anybody for this part."
