MSNBC’s Karen Finney Calls GOP A Group Of ‘Crazy Crackers’
3 months ago
Did she go too far with the racial slur?
Appearing on MSNBC to discuss the Republican party and their approach to Latino and minority voters, Democratic political strategist Karen Finney casually called White conservatives “crazy crackers.”
Finney, who is a frequent MSNBC contributor, said that the GOP alienates minority voters with “hateful” language.
“Those crazy crackers on the right, if they start with their very hateful language, that is going to kill them in the same way that they learned, at their little retreat, let’s not talking about rape,” Finney said.
Other commentators on the panel didn’t seem to notice, or just disregarded, the slur. Finney later took to Twitter, apologizing if she offended anyone. She claimed that she meant the word as an alliteration to “crackpots” or “coo-coo crazy” and that where she’s from, “cracker” isn’t a racist term.
There’s no word on whether she will face any consequences. If not, this reeks of a double-standard. Many critics say that it would have been a problem if someone had said the n-word. (NewsOne)
